This position will support Powertrain Innovation activities with specific focus on mechatronic systems evolution.
PRIMARY LOCATION : MODENA
As part of the Powertrain Innovation organization, we are looking for a control and software engineer for activities related to powertrain evolution to support automation for tractor-implement automation and other Ag machines. This position works closely with the Integration teams, Electrical, Software, Simulation, Test Lab, and Vehicle groups to design and develop advanced control systems matching or exceeding customer expectations, while considering the intrinsic embedded nature of the final solution.
Willing to travel to gain product and functional experience and assist in the evaluation of the prototypes in the field following defined test procedures and, if required, identify and implement corrective actions to achieve the results.
Communicate with the engineering team to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion following established design process. The successful candidate in this position is accountable to develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and project documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and integrate control strategies and SW for automation activities on tractors and tractor-implement combination on top of other Ag machines
Responsible for identifying the most efficient controls strategy with attention to modularity and re-usability of control blocks to be integrated into powertrain ECU or vehicle ECU
Owns, manages and releases electronic system control logics and software
Delivers work in an efficient and timely manner in completion of specific project milestones
Interfaces with software engineering and other departments to facilitate the development process
Provides team progress updates to direct manager as needed.
Ensures the use of engineering standards, methodologies, and global product development processes in engineering team’s daily work

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or another relevant discipline.
3+ years of experience in linear controls (classical and state space) and software/system engineering.
3+ years of experience in non-linear controls and software(e.g. Back stepping, Sliding mode)
Ability to travel up to 15% of time
Experience on off-road equipments SW development and Electronic Control Unit SW integration
Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.
Experience in real-time rapid control prototyping (dSpace, NI etc.)
Experience with online vehicle calibration (Control Desk, INCA, Vector tools etc.)
Experience with the following development tools: Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Control Desk, Vector Canalyzer/Canoe (J1939)
Experience in developing Adaptive controls
Knowledge in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools
Experience leading and working in multi-location teams
Agricultural or Construction Equipment background or relevant experience in off road machinery engineering.
